Varland Story - Chapter 34 - Elke

I turned thirteen.  Yay.  Wow.

Jeri is totally preggers. Three guesses who'll get to babysit. Of course, there's just *so* much else to do in this town.

I'm surprised by the way Eyvin is stepping up to the plate. He should probably lose the dog collar, though.

I wish my mother would wear more clothes around the house.  At her age it's just not decent.

Actually, she could go starkers for all of me, if she and Dad would just quit with the sniping.

She constantly berates him about why isn't he conducting the symphony yet.  His mego look sends her into a fury.

Really, he's doing quite well in the symphony, though I don't know anyone who actually goes there.

Jeri, on the other hand, is a pop icon.  All the girls at school want me to score them autographs and concert tickets.

Smooth move, Jeri! Scare the kid to death and then leave me to get her to sleep! Thanks a lot!

Ah well, she's turning five.  Should get lower maintenance and more interesting.

So far, she only talks to the ghosts.

Who have taken over the house.

And never let us forget who's in charge.

My mother got arrested.  Mucho drama.

When I suggested that she might want to consider cleaning up her act, she went ballistic and told me to stay out of her face and her business.  This did wonders for our relationship.

Dagmar turned thirteen.  Dad says this is the first real birthday party with guests and not just cake with the family in seven generations.

She still only talks to the ghosts.

And I'm 21.  Now I can tell my mother where to go and what to do with it when she gets there.
